Two bodies, one heart

Having failed to keep up with the alarmingly fast-paced Bollywood industry over the past decade or so, I’ve been reduced to watching mostly Shahrukh Khan’s movies because the man is an indisputably good actor, and he does not age like mere mortals. So were it not for the fact that I actually do speak and understand Hindi, and that I will never outgrow the Shahrukh Khan-Kajol collaborations — she being another one who simply does not age — I would probably have missed the release of Dilwale.

Seeing as I had nothing to do over the holidays, I decided to watch it the week after Christmas — and was sorely reminded of why I’ve always preferred to download and watch movies at home. It was almost impossibleĀ to concentrate on the movie in the cinema because I was surrounded by giggling, sighing, swooning girls who must have damned near wet themselves every time Shahrukh Khan and Kajol appeared in the same frame. So when I got home I downloaded the movie’s soundtrack and fell in love with the song Janam Janam.

It’sĀ been a very long time since I actually liked any song from a Hindi movie (the last one being Tujh Mein Rab Dikhta Hai from Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi). This one struck a chord with me because it’s almost like a mantra that I’ll probably be chanting to myself every day for the next few years.
